總統府今天(26日)下午4時將召開記者會，說明馬英九總統出訪中美洲的相關事宜。
之前便已傳出馬總統在5月20日卸任前將再次出訪，當時有媒體報導，指有黨政高層人士認為此時出訪完全沒有急迫性、正當性及必要性。總統府發言人陳以信則強調，外交是全民的事，也是總統重要的職掌，不可中斷，更沒有所謂看守期間。尤其我國外交處境艱難，鞏固邦誼屬於國家重要利益，更是維持活路外交現狀的必要做法，外界應以國家利益為重。
